Local PP, PE market galloped higher in Indonesia on exchange rates.

According to Oanda, the Rupiah lost another 1.1% against the US since the beginning of October as strong economic data pushed the greenback higher compared to the basket of currencies.
“We receive a good number of inquiries, but real transactions are thin. Buyers are checking raw material prices with the aim to adjust their finished goods selling prices,” a trader commented. The source added that local supply remains tight in general, except for a couple of grades including homo-PP injection and locally held Malaysian LLDPE film cargoes, which are constantly present.
Indonesian buyers continue to refrain from making new purchases to gauge the post-holiday demand conditions in China. Opinions are that international suppliers might be more willing to negotiate for discounts moving forward to compensate for the strong US dollar and widespread lethargic demand.
