Indonesian producer keeps local PP, PE market on the stable to firmer track

A major local producer in Indonesia has opened fresh PP and PE offers over the weekend with additional increases on most PP and PE grades as a result of the depreciation of the Rupiah against the US dollar.

The list price full reflected the uneven demand condition for each grade. In fact, throughout the week, Indonesian sellers have been complaining about the sluggish buying interest for LLDPE film, partly due to the weak end-product businesses, and also the large price gap this grade carries over HDPE film.
“We expect the market to be even quieter once buyers return next week. Manufacturers of all scale have made comfortable replenishment, and naturally, would skip higher priced cargoes,” a trader said.
As reported earlier, many converters in the agricultural film sector are currently facing delays in receiving new PO for end-products amid the unfavourable weather condition. These buyers are in full mood of wait-and-see.
