Domestic PP, PE offers tracks stable to firmer trend in Indonesia

Over the weekend, a key local producer announced new PP and PE offers in Indonesia largely at unchanged levels compared to the week before, except for a couple of HDPE and PP block copolymer grades that hiked up slightly.

“The new price list balanced out the depreciation of the Rupiah and the competitive offers in the distribution market. At the moment, aggressive price hikes would only push buyers to the sideline,” a market source commented.
Up to late last week, transactions for PP and HDPE in the domestic distribution market remained satisfactory, though most buyers are small-scale manufacturers. Larger scale buyers have completed replenishment, which could limit the extent of any potential drastic increases ahead.
