Local PE market holds stable in Indonesia, PP extended weakening trend
A key local producer in Indonesia has opened fresh weekly offers for both PP and PE to domestic buyers with additional reductions on most PP grades, which are much anticipated given the tremendous pressure from overseas and sluggish demand.

Even after the fresh price cuts, new offers are perceived as lacking competitiveness, from which customers continue to wait on the sidelines. Apparently, the readily available Chinese homo-PP cargoes in the import market are not the only pressure point the producer faces, but also the constant falling offers in the distribution market at home.
“Traders are offering at much lower price levels, hence customers might opt to source the needed quantities in the distribution market. So far, we have not seen strong movement in the local ground,” a trader said.
