A major local producer in Indonesia has substantially stepped back on the spot PP and PE offers this week after a brief firm up as a result of the intensifying COVID-19 outbreak in the country that weaken the near-term outlook.

Local traders have immediately followed the price adjustment, though purchasing interest remains sluggish, which could induce additional price cuts in the coming days.

“Once again, it could be very challenging for international suppliers to increase prices to Indonesia this round despite the firming sentiment across the region. Demand might only recover once the outbreak is under control,” a market source added.
