A major Malaysian producer has opened fresh PP and PE offers to the Indonesia market with up to three digits hike due to the tight supply condition and the high production costs.

There have been reports that the producer is currently putting more attention on the domestic Malaysian market given the fact that demand here is improving following the COVID-19 lockdown. The extended shutdown at PrefChem is giving the producer a prominent position in this market.
“However, it is very difficult for Indonesian buyers to accept such large increases, especially for homo-PP cargoes because of the competitive local prices and soft end product businesses,” a market source explained.
