Domestic Indonesian producer maintains firm stance on local PP and PE cargoes



Despite the sluggish demand condition in this market, a major Indonesian producer decided to maintain a rather firm stance on spot PP and PE cargoes citing the exchange rate for the support.

The reaction from the spot market is not very strong, according to market sources. Many players are slowing down purchases amid the fear that the country might start implementing partial lockdown in order to curb the spread of the Covid-19.

Meanwhile, demand from the food packaging sector remains steady. 

“We have not received many inquiries from customers. The market is more concerned with the economic outlook due to the uncertain impact from the Covid-19 outbreak,” a trader said.
