Local PP offers continue to decline in Indonesia, PE hold steady



A major local producer in Indonesia once again surprise the market by reducing spot offers for most PP grades by $10/ton from last week regardless of the steep depreciation of the local currency against the US dollar.

Sources believed that the move is to distract buyers from the import ground, as at the moment, local cargoes are gaining a competitive advantage.

“At the current exchange rate, it is more expensive to buy USD dominated cargoes. Purchasing interest has been improving since last week, though we are a bit concern over the COVID-19 development in Indonesia,” a local trader added.
