Local PP and PE offers in Indonesia inched higher on exchange rate

Following a drastic price reduction on most PP grades on the first trading day of the week, a local producer in Indonesia has up-adjusted spot offers for both PP and PE cargoes today by $10/ton on the back of the depreciated Indonesian Rupiah against the US dollar.

The producer’s latest price list and changes compared to last week are shown in the following table:

There have not been any major changes in terms of demand and players continue to aggressively negotiate for a large discount regardless of the potentially tighter local supply due to the upcoming shutdown at Polytama and Pertamina plants.

“However, we think the market might regain some stabilization in the coming day as prices have plunged too steeply,” a local trader added.
