Indonesian buyers reported having received fresh weekly PP and PE offers from a major local producer on the first trading day of the week. The latest price list underlines the producer’s effort in stabilizing the prices for most of the grades, except for HDPE, which still slide in a relatively large pace.

At the time of this report, offers for most of the PE cargoes have fallen below the $900/ton threshold while it is important to note that deals for these parcels have been achieved at much lower levels in the distribution market compared to the producer’s price list.
“The plunge in the upstream ethylene market might encourage customers to negotiate more aggressively for discounts for PE cargoes. We remain cautious about the market outlook,” a trader said.
