A major local producer in Indonesia reportedly opens new PP and PE offers to domestic buyers at mostly unchanged levels from last week, except for HDPE film, which extended the weakening trend on comfortable supply and soft demand condition.

In the distribution market, buyers are placing bids for locally held HDPE film cargoes at up to IDR500,000/ton ($36/ton) below the producer’s price list, ignoring the surging upstream ethylene costs.
“We plan to be conservative on new purchases. Demand might remain soft in the near term on the back of uncertain outcome at the General Election,” a buyer added.
