A major Saudi Arabia producer has announced February shipment offers for PE to Vietnam with $10/ton reduction from last month, against the recent firming trend in the upstream ethylene market.
The latest price list stands at $1030-1040/ton for LLDPE film and at $1070/ton for HDPE film, all based on CIF Southern Vietnam, LC AS term and the last shipping date is 15 April 2019.
Buyers in the country are generally expecting prices to stabilize given the stronger demand in the nearby China market ahead of the Lunar New Year in combined with the surging ethylene costs.
“We plan to bid for $20/ton discount from the initial price list. Market started to stabilize compared to the past couple of months, however, we prefer to be more cautious this year given the uncertainties in the trade truce between China and the USA,” a buyer added.
Other markets in the region are waiting for new offers from the same supplier.
