Import PE arrival to China in September reduced modestly, according to the latest data from the Chinese Custom Department. Meanwhile, import PP continue to rise, particularly homo-PP cargoes, underlining the fact that China might need more time to be self-sufficient in PP supply.
Some details are shown in the following table:
China registered 15.2% hike or more than 1.85 million tons in the total PP and PE import arrival for the period January to September 2018 compared to the same duration last year. The absence of recycled materials resulted from the ban on plastics scrap import played a major role in such development.
It is important to note that due to the inability to separate the HS Code between LLDPE and metallocene PE (mPE), CommoPlast has combined the two grades, leading to a large increase in volume year on year.
