The latest data from the Chinese Custom Department showed a strong surge in import arrival for both PP and PE to China in the month of August 2018, particularly LLDPE and LDPE grade.

China registered 16.2% hike or more than 1.7 million tons in the total PP and PE import arrival for the period January to August 2018 compared to the same duration last year. Players said that one of the factors contributing to such surge is the absence of the recycled materials resulted from the ban on plastics scraps. 

It is important to note that due to the inability to separate the HS Code between LLDPE and metallocene PE (mPE), CommoPlast has combined the two grades, leading to a large increase in volume year on year.
