Depending on what happens, more USA tariffs on Chinese imports might be coming

The US President on Sunday, 9 September 2018 said that another round of tariffs on USD 267 billion in Chinese goods is ready to be implemented ‘depending on what happens’, reported the Wall Street Journal.

This is on top of the impending third round of tariffs that that worth USD 200 billion in Chinese goods, which the public comment period ended on last Thursday. This round covers 6,031 products, however, it is unsure if the rate would be 25% or 10%. Market is waiting for final decisions.

IF the third and fourth round of tariffs materialized, the USA would have imposed a total of USD 517 billion in tariffs on Chinese imports, a USD 12 billion more than the total value of goods the US imported from China in 2017.
