Another major Saudi Arabia producer has reportedly opened fresh PE offers to Vietnam on the first trading day of the week at a mixed direction. While lifting LLDPE film prices by $10/ton from last month to $1160-1170/ton, the maker slashed HDPE film offers by $20/ton to $1330/ton, CIF Vietnam, LC AS term, last shipping date 15 November.

In a note to regular buyers, the producer informed that availability for LLDPE film remains very tight due to the unsolved technical issue. Previously purchased cargoes did not arrive in August due to the same problem.

“There might be small or no discount of LLDPE film given the tightness, however, for HDPE film, deals are expected at $1300-1310/ton level. The domestic market failed to pick up despite enthusiastic traders,” a buyer commented.

The far shipping date is another concern that buyers are looking at. “These cargoes might only arrive during Chinese New Year and market would be too weak at that point of time,” another buyer commented.
