It is reported that South Korea’s YNCC was forced to shut down its butadiene units in Yeochun late last week following a butane gas leak. Three butadiene lines with combined capacity of 240,000 tons/year would remain off-line until the company resolve the issue.
However, the gas leak did not affect the operation at the three naphtha crackers in the same location. The three crackers are able to produce 1.905 million tons/year of ethylene and 960,000 tons/year of propylene.
