Import PP and PE arrivals to China in March witnessed a drastic surge from the previous month, latest data from the Chinese Customs Department showed. The following table detailed the volume for each grade and the month on month changes.

It is important to note that import HDPE to China in March hit multi-month highs on strong purchasing activities prior to the Lunar New Year as buyers have been seeking a replacement for the recycle grade. Such heavy influx has eased the tightness in the local ground to a certain extent and brought HDPE prices down in early April. However, the market is expecting bright prospect for HDPE throughout this year, as demand remains resilient.
