China will be hosting 2018 Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit this coming June at Qingdao, eastern Shandong Province. SCO is a Eurasian economic, political and security organisation with eight active country members and three observers with main objective focuses on the military cooperation.
With a major international event coming, many manufacturers in the petrochemical, steel and paper industry in Shandong and Hebei province might need to either shutdown or lower operating rate from April to June 2018, in order to maintain high quality air condition. Chinese media has been discussing this issue, however, there is no detailed outline from officials at the moment.
Chinese players are watching out for the potential impact on the demand for petrochemical products, though many are hoping to see better trading activities in the immediate term.
