On 3 February 2018, PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical Tbk commenced a groundbreaking of the new polyethylene (PE) project at its existing petrochemical complex at Cilegon, Banten, Indonesia. Representatives from EPC contractors including Toyo Engineering and PT Inti Karya Persada Tehnik Indonesia also attended the ceremony.
The new PE plant will be built adjacent to the existing complex, which upon completion would add another 400,000 tons/year of output to the company’s current capacity of 336,000 tons/year. It aims to produce various commodity grade products including HDPE, LLDPE and metallocene PE.
The plant is scheduled to come online by end of 2019 and would start commercial run by early 2020.
