China's CNOOC and Shell to startup new HDPE plant



According to market sources, CNOOC and Shell Petrochemical Co Ltd (Phase II) is planning to startup its new HDPE plant by first half of March 2018.

Based in Guangzhou, China, the new HDPE plant has a production capacity of 400,000 tons/year. A source closed to the company informed that they will be producing HDPE injection grade at for the beginning stage and expected on-spec cargoes to be available in the market by second half of March 2018. The startup of this plant has been delayed since Q4 last year. In addition, the company also having new LLDPE and PP plant with 300,000 tons/year and 400,000 tons/year of production capacities respectively, which the startup schedule is still pending for confirmation.
