In a latest official announcement from Rabigh Refining & Petrochemical Co. (Petro Rabigh) pertaining the operational status of its Rabigh II project, the company said its has achieved on-spec production at 10 out of 12 units at the new petrochemical complex.
The ten units in stable operation condition are Cumene, Phenol, Methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE)/Isobutylene, Metathesis, Methyl Methacrylate (MMA), Naphtha Reformer, Poly Methyl Methacrylate (PMMA), Low Density Polyethylene/ (LDPE), Thermo Plastic Olefin (TPO) and Nylon 6 (Polyamide 6).
The remaining two units, namely Aromatics and EPR (Ethylene Propylene Rubber) will start up in first quarter of 2018.
Rabigh II Project is another join venture between Saudi Aramco and Japan’s Sumitomo. Once Rabigh II fully in operation, it would be integrated with Rabigh I.
