Vietnamese players on the first trading day of the week reported receiving fresh PE offers from a major Thailand producer with $10-20/ton increased week on week. Latest price list stand at $1210/ton for LLDPE film, $1260/ton for LDPE film, $1250/ton for HDPE blow moulding and yarn, and at  $1320/ton for HDPE film grade, all based on CIF Vietnam, LC AS term.

Supply for HDPE from the supplier might tighten in the coming month due to the impending maintenance shutdown at the line in February 2018. Vietnamese buyers are attempting to negotiate foe some discounts before entering deals knowing that upstream ethylene costs are currently higher than PE.

A distributor said, “Regular customers are demanding for $10/ton discount from initial offers and we are waiting for feedback from principal supplier. Market might continue to move higher in the near term considering the limited supply condition in both upstream and downstream market.”
