Taiwanese ABS offers continue galloping higher in Vietnam

A Taiwanese supplier reportedly lifted ABS offers to Vietnam by additional $20/ton, marking three consecutive weeks of price hike, though buying interest in fading as buyers are unable to accept the latest offers. Price list currently stand at $2030/ton CIF Vietnam, LC AS term.

The producer informed of healthy demand in China in preparation for the year-end season, with a source added, “Besides, upstream costs are quite firm these days. Supply for styrene monomer is tight and the condition might persist in the near term. We have many inquiries coming from Chinese buyers recently.”

Vietnamese buyers are not very receptive towards the latest price with converters are unable to transfer the costs to end products. “We fear that the current condition might not prove to be sustainable. We prefer not to proceed with new buy for now. Domestic prices are still more competitive this week,” a converter said.
