In an official statement released on 17 October 2017, ExxonMobil Chemical Company said that it has commenced production at the two new 650,000 tons/year high-performance polyethylene lines at Mont Belvieu, Texas. Cargoes from these units shall be available for export by end of this month.
The company said that the high performance polyethylene delivers significant sustainability benefits enabling lighter weight higher performance packaging, lower energy consumption and reduced emissions.
ExxonMobil’s Mont Belvieu petrochemical complex produces more than 2.5 millions tons/year of polyethylene (PE). Other lines at the plant might come to live within this quarter, market sources said.
