Technical glitches hit Saudi's PetroRabigh plant

It is reported that Rabigh Refining and Petrochemical Co (PetroRabigh) was forced to take its HDPE line off-stream on 29 June 2016 due to unexpected technical issues. The 300,000 tons/year unit is expected to remain offline until end of July.

Meanwhile, sources close to the company also informed about the unstable condition at the PP copolymer line, from which PetroRabigh has switched to produce homo-PP injection instead. The 350,000 tons/year unit might also be taken off-stream in the near term for maintenance.

Market sources informed, “The producer might not have much allocation for HDPE and PP block in the coming months. Meanwhile, the LLDPE plant is still operating at normal rate.”
