Indonesia's Pertamina and Saudi Aramco's JV for refinery expansion

According to market sources, PT Pertamina, Indonesia’s state oil and gas company has signed a joint venture with Saudi Aramco (55:45), which allocated more than USD 6 billion for further upgrades on its Cilacap refineries, are expected to double up its refined oil production capacity to approximately 2 million barrels per day in 2025.

“In fact, our main focus is to increase the production of our petrochemical products especially propylene and sulphur,” a source closed to the company added.

Upon expansion, the production capacity of propylene will be added further 160,000 tons/year from existing 300,000 tons/year, and there is no plan for polypropylene (PP) expansion at the moment.

As reported earlier by CommoPlast, it is expected that Indonesia will have additional supplies for the upstream with the additional expansions from Chandra Asri Petrochemical and Lotte Chemical Titan approaching 2020.
