A major Southeast Asian producer has announced May shipment offers for PP and LDPE to regional buyers with $10-20/ton reduction month on month basis. Despite the adjustment, buyers are not very responsive to the offers claiming that these cargoes are above market acceptance levels.

Latest PP offers are reported at $1180/ton for homo-PP, $1260/ton for PP block copolymer, $1270/ton for PP random copolymer, all based on CIF Southeast Asia/ DAP Malaysia, LC AS term.

Besides, LDPE prices stand at $1390-1400/ton for film grade, $1450-1460/ton for injection grade and $1460-1470/ton for lamination grade, with the same term.

A buyer commented, “We think the supplier might have to offer additional discount to attract deals in spite of the current plant shutdown. Couple of other suppliers in the region are giving more competitive prices while demand is not very strong. We prefer to take conservative stance at the moment.”
