It is reported that a fire broke out at Sinopec Nanjing Yangzi Petrochemical late evening yesterday, causing several downstream units to undertake emergency shutdown as preventive measure. The fire started at one of the transit pump of propylene pipeline and was contained shortly after that.
The affected downstream units included two (2) HDPE lines with combined capacity of 230,000 tons/year and two (2) PP lines with total capacity of 340,000 tons/year. It is unsure about the operating status at the upstream ethylene and propylene units.
A source close to the company informed, “The impact might not be very serious as we might be able to restart all the line within couple days.”
