According to market sources, Iran is going to have five new petrochemical capacities coming on-stream by this year.

The production to be start up by mid of February are as followings:

Kavian Petrochemical Complex (Phase 2) – 1 million tons/year of ethylene

Morvarid Petrochemical Complex (Phase 2) – 550,000 tons/year of ethylene and ethylene glycol (EG)

Takhte Jamshid – 250,000 tons/year of styrene derivatives

Entekhab Petrochemical Complex – 250,000 tons/year of styrene derivatives

Meanwhile, by end of the year, Pardis Petrochemical Company (Phase 2) will also startup its production of 1 million tons/year of ammonia and urea.

There will be 3 units at the Bushehr Petrochemical Complex to come on-stream by next year, which is able to produce 1 million tons/year of olefins, 550,000 tons/year of ethylene glycol, 300,000 tons/year of light and heavy polymers, 300,000 tons/year of acetic acid, as well as the 1.65 million tons/year of the Marjan methanol plant (also known as the 7th Methanol Project).

The capacity of petrochemicals in Iran currently standing at 64 million tons/year and the upcoming new plants are going to boost the capacity to exceed 100 million tons/year over the next 5 years, and it is expected that by 2026, the annual petrochemical capacity in Iran will hit 140 million tons/year.
