In the Indonesian PE spot market, traders express growing concerns over heightened competition, facing difficulties in selling amidst the arrival of imported cargoes offering prices below the producers' list by approximately IDR 2,000,000/ton. Despite its primary use in mixing, price-sensitive buyers are increasingly drawn to these alternatives. Earlier reports reveal a substantial portion of PE converters operating at reduced capacities, ranging from 50% to 70%, attributed to weakened demand for end products in November.
Meanwhile, in the PP market, competition is intensifying, particularly for yarn and injection grades. “On a positive note, film grade still holds opportunities as buyers are anticipated to resume purchases, driven by a reduction in their existing stock,” a trader added.
