Trading activity on the Shenhua auction platform at the start of the week continues to perform healthily. Despite prices for homo-PP being CNY20/ton higher, sales are admirable while LLDPE at CNY50/ton taller than the previous session managed to secure above 85% of deals.
Traders credited the pre-Dragon Boat holiday replenishment activities for the strong sentiment. Besides, coal-based PP and PE cargoes on the auction platform are still more competitive than spot materials, which added to their advantages.
Background:
Shenhua Baotou Coal Chemical Co is currently the largest coal-based polyolefins producer in China, operates under four subsidiaries, namely: Shenhua Xinjiang Coal-based New Materials Project, Shenhua Yulin Energy Co Ltd, Shenhua Baotou Coal Chemical Co Ltd and Shenhua Ningxia Coal Industry Group (Ningmei).
The company has an annual capacity of 2.65 million tons/year of PP, 750,000 tons/year of HDPE/LLDPE and 570,000 tons/year of LDPE.
