Despite the softer import PP market, a key local producer in Indonesia continues to implement additional increases on PP and PE offers today, marking the second round of price hikes this week.

Commented on the new price list, Indonesian buyers said it is very much for ‘display purposes’ as the demand is sluggish. Many manufacturers are selling the on-hand raw materials stocks at way lower the producer’s new offers amid the lack of new end-product orders.
“Because of the Omicron wave, retailers are not confident to place additional PO. Besides, we would still be able to source more competitive cargoes from Chinese suppliers this week if needed,” a converter said.
In fact, CommoPlast reported the previous day that Chinese homo-PP yarn is now available at $1320-1340/ton CIF Indonesia with a 5% import duty.
